Concerns have been raised about the state of the May Pen Bypass Bridge.
Custos of the parish , Billy Shagoury, says if repairs are not carried out immediately, bad weather of any kind could result in major damage.
Missing bolts, exposed grounding columns and signs of vast erosion are only a few of the factors influencing the Custos' concerns.
Mr Shagoury says the current state of the bridge brings back fears of the 1986 June floods that caused part of that same structure to collapse.
He said a letter was written to then Works Minister Mike Henry in April of 2010, asking for the May Pen Bypass Bridge and the old Railway Bridge be repaired.
The Railway Bridge was subsequently realigned but no work was done on the Bypass Bridge.
May Pen is a key economic hub for Central Jamaica.
