Following an incident on Saturday that resulted in a municipal worker and a vendor being sent to hospital in the central parish of Clarendon, the Parish Council has set a meeting to lay down new rules. This meeting will involve members of the council, municipal workers, vendors, and the police.
It was reported that on Saturday a team of municipal workers was on duty when they allegedly saw an individual breaching the municipal laws. A confrontation developed between a member of the team and the individual who reportedly used a knife to stab the municipal officer all over his body. The individual was also injured.
The Police intervened and both men were taken to Hospital, where the officer was treated and released, and the other person admitted.
“We will be having a meeting with all vendors in the May Pen area on Tuesday. There will be new measures implemented on the first of February as it relates to handcarts because these devises become a nuisance to what we intend to achieve in May Pen .We will be meeting with the persons who make these carts and rent them out to persons” said Chairman of the Clarendon Parish Council and Mayor of May Pen Scean Barnswell.
