Clover Graham murder accused absconds bail ahead of trial

By Racquel Porter

Quron Patterson, the man who was scheduled to stand trial today in the Home Circuit Court for the murder of attorney Clover Graham ten years ago, has absconded bail.

A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Patterson, otherwise called 'Q' had his bail extended Thursday following a plea and case management hearing.

When the matter was called up Friday morning, his attorney Zara Lewis told the court that she last spoke with Patterson about 7:45 Thursday evening.

Ms Lewis said efforts to contact Patterson and his relatives have since been unsuccessful.

Ms Graham was a lecturer at the University of Technology, Jamaica and the Norman Manley Law School.

According to the prosecution, Ms Graham, who was also employed to the Legal Aid Clinic in Kingston, was taken from her home and then murdered.

The body of the lecturer was found with the throat slashed in bushes at Caymanas Estate, St. Catherine on August 19, 2012, hours after she was reported missing by her family.

Patterson was among three men who were arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to murder in October 2012, in connection to her killing.

Ms Graham was killed five years after her son Taiwo McKenzie and his girlfriend Jhannel Whyte were killed by men who demanded a ransom after a motor vehicle crash.
