The Jamaica Fire Brigade says Wednesday morning's fire which damaged one of the 10 restaurants at the Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica hotel in St. Ann resulted in an estimated loss of US$1 million.

Video footage of the incident showed several windows at the hotel being blown out.

There was no report of guests being injured.

But Emilio Ebanks, Public Relations Officer for the Jamaica Fire Brigade, told Radio Jamaica News that three hotel staff were hurt. Two of them were taken to St. Ann's Bay Hospital prior to the arrival of the brigade.

The hotel's director of internal organisation and corporate social responsibility, Fabian Brown, told Radio Jamaica News earlier on Wednesday that the fire began about 4:45 a.m.

Mr. Brown said operations have not been disrupted at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica or the Luxury Bahia Principe Runaway resorts.
