Flooding, termite infestation, mould and malfunctioning AC units have made working conditions uncomfortable for staff at the Papine, St. Andrew based Food Storage and Prevention of Infestation Division (FSPID).
Radio Jamaica News received a report that a section of the building was flooded last week due to issues with one of the bathrooms.
The flooded area was closed off and access restricted.
But our newscentre was informed that there was another flooding incident today.
Staff have expressed concern that the area where the flooding occurred was reopened for use without first being sanitised.
Permanent Secretary in the Industry Ministry, Sancia Bennett Templer, in responding to the claims, said a leaking pipe is the source of the flooding.
She said the landlord has been informed of the issue and attempts are being made to effect repairs.
In relation to the claims of mould and termite infestation, Mrs. Bennett Templer said her checks revealed that there was no sign of mould, however, last week's persistent rains resulted in a leak in the ceiling of one office and some peeling paint.
She confirmed the presence of termites and indicated that the Ministry will conduct its own independent investigation into the issues.
