A probe has been launched into how a seven-year-old student gained possession of a submachine gun in St. Elizabeth.
The weapon was taken from the child at a school in the parish on Thursday.
Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the St. Elizabeth Police, confirmed the incident.
The name of the institution was not disclosed.
It's not clear how the child obtained the firearm.
