Health Ministry reports surge in COVID-19 cases

The Ministry of Health is reporting a surge in cases of COVID-19 over the last week.
 
It says 175 new cases were recorded from January 10 to 16.
 
Two deaths were recorded this month.
 
In its latest bulletin, the Health Ministry also confirmed nine more COVID-19 related deaths, which had been under investigation since 2021.
 
The country's death toll is now 3,476.
 
The positivity rate stands at 12 per cent.
 
Fifty-six of the new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Kingston and St. Andrew, followed by St. Catherine with 30, St. Ann with 24, St. James had 17 cases and St. Mary recorded 13.
