INDECOM awaiting DPP's ruling on Nzinga King case

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has confirmed a Radio Jamaica News report that it is awaiting the ruling of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on the case involving Nzinga King, the Rastafarian woman who claimed she was trimmed while in police custody.

In a media release on Wednesday, INDECOM said an investigative file and Commission's Report into the allegation of assault and unprofessional conduct were submitted to the office of the DPP on November 11.

INDECOM said any ruling of the DPP will not affect Miss King's ability to pursue civil remedies.

Miss King said her locks were cut while she was being held at Four Paths Police Station in Clarendon on July 22.

In September, the decision was made for INDECOM to take charge of the probe which was being carried out by the police.
