The Ministry of Tourism says Jamaica has become the number one Caribbean growth destination for Delta Air Lines.

It says the growth rate, which also outpaced Mexico, was shared during a high-level meeting on Tuesday with Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett and Senior Executives of Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, Georgia.

Senior Strategist in the Tourism Ministry Delano Seiveright said the development is a positive sign of the strength of destination Jamaica.

"We're really delighted about these developments. I mean, we put in a tremendous amount of work. The Jamaica Tourist Board, the Ministry of Tourism, and our local and international partners in the private and public sectors worked extremely hard during the COVID-19 pandemic and we're seeing the dividends of that work," he said.

According to Mr. Seiveright, travel data analytics firm ForwardKeys indicates that Jamaica currently has 33 per cent more summer travel bookings than it did for summer 2022. It also says the load factor for flights coming into Jamaica is at 90 per cent, meaning most of the airlines' available seats have been sold.
