Following a five hour meeting on Thursday, the Secretariat of the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is reporting that it ironed out the issues related to Tuesday's incident in Alexandria, St. Ann in which a man was shot and killed.
The meeting involved Aundre Franklin, JLP General Secretary, and political representatives in South West St. Ann including Ernest Smith, the Member of Parliament (MP).
Senator Warren Newby was also in attendance.
The JLP said Senator Newby reaffirmed that he will not be seeking candidacy for the seat in the upcoming general election but will be a key part of the constituency's campaign team.
The Secretariat was also assured by all parties that there will be a united front to deal with any discontent by supporters in the constituency.
"There are some Secretarial matters to treat with within the constituency that will be dealt with. All three divisional chairpersons, the two councillors and councillor caretaker along with the MP have given the party their assurance that they will be working to ensure that the (JLP) is victorious and to mend any fences which have been damaged," Mr. Franklin said.
