JLP supporters injured in motor vehicle mishaps on Nomination Day

The Jamaica Labour Party has reported that a member of its campaign team in St. Thomas East was injured in a hit and run in the constituency Tuesday morning during Nomination Day activities. 
 
Kamina Johnson Smith, a member of the JLP campaign team, said the incident is being investigated by the police.
 
She said the incident involved a young woman, who is an electoral divisional head for the Morant Bay division. She was reportedly "hit down at the side of the road at the start of the motorcade preparations." 
 
Mrs Johnson Smith said the woman suffered a fractured shoulder, fracture ankle and has severe bruising. 
 
The vehicle that hit her did not stop. 
 
Mrs Johnson Smith said there was another motor vehicle mishap in East Central St. Catherine, where two young men were injured when a car hit them. They are being treated at hospital. 
 
Mrs Johnson Smith was speaking at a media briefing Tuesday afternoon.
 
Radio Jamaica News was also informed that six persons were injured in a two vehicle collision on South Camp Road in St. Andrew.
 
The injured persons were part of a Jamaica Labour Party motorcade.  
 
They have been taken to hospital.
