The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says it has moved to rectify a concern of some residents of Innswood Village in Spanish Town, St. Catherine that they had been getting estimated bills for one year.

The residents highlighted the problem with Radio Jamaica News on Tuesday as the complained that they had been without electricity for two days.

"Our bill for March come to $25,000. When we went to JPS, [the representative] said she's trying to pick up some signal from here, but she not getting any signal. There is no reading on any one of the boxes in Innswood Village. And we know that for three consecutive months, we mustn't get estimated bill for those three months," one resident highlighted.

The JPS say electricity has since been restored to the affected customers.

Audrey William, Media and Public Relations Manager at the JPS, said an investigation revealed that loss of electricity was due to tampering of the meter box.

Mrs Williams said the affected boxes have been replaced so residents should see an improvement in the reading of their bills this month.
