JPS warns of prolonged outages as crews hampered by poor weather

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says its customers in southern and eastern parishes should brace for prolonged outages as its work crews have been badly hampered by the adverse weather conditions.

The company says work has been delayed by flooding, blocked roads and lightning activity.

JPS says it faced challenges particularly in Clarendon, where roads leading to affected communities were blocked, namely the access routes via Pedro River, Aenon Town and other corridors.

The power company says in St. Catherine and Manchester, where several poles were uprooted and washed out, its teams also faced significant challenges, due to ongoing weather interruptions.

Restoration attempts were also made in Bowden Hill, rural St. Andrew, but were halted due to the deteriorating conditions.
