Justice Minister Delroy Chuck is calling for Justices of the Peace (JPs) to provide information on criminals in their communities to the police.

He made the appeal during a virtual session to swear-in 37 JPs in Clarendon.

Mr. Chuck urged the JPs to go beyond just signing documents and assist in the fight against gangs which have been contributing to the country's murder rate.

“From here on out spend some time thinking, imagining how Jamaica can move forward and be a place you can be proud of. If we can reduce and eliminate the violence across communities, so much more can be done,” he said.

Mr. Chuck said gangs in Clarendon should not be allowed to operate with impunity.

“Together in Jamaica and together in Clarendon, you must find ways and means to work with the police, work with the ministers fraternal, work with the custos, work with one another to isolate and sideline the criminals, the indiscipline and those who are engaged in disorderly behaviour,” he told JPs.
