The Ministry of Justice will today begin replacing seals issued to Justices of the Peace in St. Elizabeth before 2021.
According to a representative of the Ministry of Justice from May 30 to June 1, the ministry will replace the seals with inscription "Justice of the Peace St. Elizabeth" with the new seals inscribed "Justice of the Peace Jamaica".
A team from the Ministry will be at the Sharon Baptist Church to facilitate the replacement of the seals.
All Justices of the Peace in St. Elizabeth with seals issued before 2021 are required to have their seals replaced.
With the amendment of the Justice of the Peace Act, in 2018, Justices of the Peace are no longer tied to the parish in which they were commissioned but are able to sign documents islandwide as they are now Justices of the Peace of Jamaica.
