The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will tomorrow introduce a pre-paid electronic fare collection paper card as an additional payment form on its buses.
The Card is expected to further reduce the use of cash on JUTC buses and provide improved convenience for commuters. It will also eliminate the need for people to join long lines for Smarter Card top-ups.
A statement from the company says the paper Smarter Card will be convenient to people who occasionally take JUTC buses and do not want to pay their fare by cash.
The Smarter Cards can only be used to pay adult fares of $120 and balances transferred to the next paper card purchased by the individual, or to the regular Smarter Card. There will be soft launch this weekend, using a number of Digicel dealers.
