Man out on bail fatally shot by police in Montego Bay

A man, who was out on bail for murder and illegal possession of a firearm, was fatally shot by the police in St James on the weekend.
 
He is 30 year old Leonardo Murray - otherwise called "Bigga Ninja" of Hart Street, Montego Bay.
 
The St James police reported that about 5:00 a.m., Saturday, they carried out a targeted operation on Hart Street in search of wanted men.
 
The cops allege that Mr Murray pointed a weapon at them and was fatally shot.
 
The police reported that Mr Murray was out on bail for murder and weapons possession, and a condition of his bail was that he should reside in Westmoreland and stay away from St James.
 
The Independent Commission of Investigation is probing the incident.
 
About 12 fatal shootings by the security forces have been recorded since the start of January.
