Jamaica's public hospitals have begun receiving deliveries of medical oxygen following a weekend of dangerously low supplies.
Distribution started early Monday morning, shortly after a shipment of the critical gas arrived in the country.
Radio Jamaica News was informed on Sunday that a number of deaths had occurred at a hospital due to the shortage of medical oxygen which has resulted from the high number of patients being treated for COVID-19.
At least two other shipments of oxygen are expected over the next 24 hours.
