The Ministry of Education says it has been seeking to resolve issues related to delayed salary payments for teachers on an individual basis.
Up until yesterday, Jamaica Teachers' Association president, LaSonja Harrison reported that there were still a few teachers who had not received their March salaries.
Speaking with Radio Jamaica News this morning, the acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education, Maureen Dwyer, said the ministry is in frequent contact with the JTA which provides information on teachers who have not been paid.
Mrs Dwyer says so far this week, the ministry has received eight complaints.
She says the Ministry of Education recognises that the issues relating to teachers' salaries need to be settled and has been working at the regional level to facilitate queries.
In the meantime, in an interview with our news centre, the JTA president said the association yesterday participated in a meeting called by the Ministry of Finance to address growing discontent among public sector employees over their adjusted salaries under the compensation review.
