The death of Constable Damien Blair in Somerset, Manchester on Monday evening has been linked to frequent domestic disputes between the lawman and his wife.

The body of the 41-year-old cop was found with bullet wounds outside his house at Desmond McKenzie Close, more commonly known as Guava Walk.

He also had injuries to his face.

His wife, who barricaded herself inside the house, was found with an apparent self-inflicted wound to her wrist. She was taken to hospital by the police.

When Radio Jamaica News returned to the community Tuesday morning, detectives were still processing the scene.

One resident in the farming community says it was well-known that the couple had arguments and fights, which often required police intervention.

"Always have the situation and di police dem a come through and a try mediate di situation. Quarrel always gwaan, arguments always gwaan. So this is not the first or the second time actually. But as mi seh, ah just one a dem incident deh weh kinda throw off the community and kinda throw off di moral ah di ting," the resident lamented.

Constable Blair's sister, Antonia Sutherland, said the couple had filed for divorce and had also been receiving counselling.
