The National Council of Taxi Associations (NCOTA) is collating data to present its request for a rate increase to the Minister of Transport.

NCOTA President Allan Blair says he met with the Minister of Transport on Wednesday to discuss several concerns including an adjustment in fares.

Fares were last increased by 15 per cent in 2021, despite a request for a 30 per cent upward adjustment.

Speaking with Radio Jamaica News, Mr. Blair said the time has come for another fare increase in response to the rising cost of living.

However, the group is still trying to determine the level of increase they will request.

"We are now looking at what the figure will be. We just don’t want to pull a figure out of the hat. We want to make sure that whatever we are putting out there is credible, and so we are working on that currently," he told Radio Jamaica News
