The Nigerian medical doctor who died in a motor vehicle crash along the Golden Valley main road in Castleton, St Mary on Monday has been identified as 36 year-old Ubung Etti, of Annotto Bay in the parish.
The tragedy occurred about 5:50 a.m.
Dr Etti was a passenger in a blue Honda Fit motor vehicle being driven by another doctor, travelling from Kingston towards Annotto Bay.
Upon reaching a section of the roadway, the driver reportedly swerved to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle, hit an embankment and plunged over a precipice approximately 150 feet deep.
The police and fire brigade were alerted, and on their arrival, all four persons who'd been aboard the vehicle were transported to hospital where Dr Etti was pronounced dead and the others were treated.
Grief counseling is being provided for staff at Annotto Bay Hospital where Dr Etti worked.
