No criminal charge in relation to death of Jodian Fearon

Radio Jamaica News has been informed that there will be no criminal charge in relation to the death of Jodian Fearon, the pregnant woman who died after being turned away from two hospitals earlier this year.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey told Radio Jamaica News there was insufficient evidence for charges to be laid.

Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn had confirmed on Tuesday that a ruling, dated September 29, had been delivered to the head of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Miss Fearon, who was 23, was initially not admitted at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and Victoria Jubilee Hospital after she showed symptoms similar to those displayed by a COVID-19 patient.

She later delivered her baby at Spanish Town Hospital and then was transferred to the UHWI, where she died.
