Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Wellness Dunstan Bryan and an elderly man disappointed at not receiving his second dose of vaccine on Saturday

The Jamaican health authorities are seeking to assure some skeptical women that taking the COVI-19 vaccine will not adversely affect the fertility and prevent them from becoming pregnant.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness has disclosed that some women are hesitant about taking the vaccine because of that fear.

Permanent Secretary in the ministry Dunstan Bryan confirmed that this has been recurring question during community meetings aimed at encouraging more people to get vaccinated.

The health ministry reported that up to Thursday it had administered more than 49,000 vaccine doses  from a recently arrived 300 thousand dose shipment from the UK.

So far 359,000 people in Jamaica have received at least one dose of the vaccine since the country's vaccination programme started.
