NWA begins rehabilitation of Santa Cruz to Leeds main road in St. Elizabeth

By Prince Moore

The National Works Agency says it has started a multimillion-dollar rehabilitation project along the main road from Santa Cruz to Leeds in St. Elizabeth.

The work will continue for the next eight months.

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw says it is valued at just under $116 million.

This road is one of the main access routes to the Southern St. Elizabeth communities of Malvern, Hampton and Potsdam.

Mr. Shaw says about 5.5 kilometers of the road will be redeveloped.

The works will include drainage improvement, installation of sidewalks, a new base and asphaltic concrete paving.

Mr. Shaw says, once the project is completed, travel to critical service centres such as the Bethlehem Moravian College, Hampton School and Munro College will be easier.
