NWA to meet with consultant regarding plan to improve drainage on Marcus Garvey Drive

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw

The plan to improve the drainage system on Marcus Garvey Drive is moving to another phase.

The National Works Agency (NWA) is to meet next week with the consultant designing the drainage system as part of the master plan for the area.

"We have a meeting next week with the consultants where we are going to be discussing some of the options that they are putting forward for us to move forward in so far as going to tender for the infrastructural work," NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw said Wednesday on Radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines.

Mr. Shaw said the flooding which occurs on Marcus Garvey Drive is due to the small size of the drain at the Tinson Pen Aerodrome.

On Wednesday, heavy rain again caused flooding on Marcus Garvey Drive.

Two weekends ago, the east bound lanes of the road were impassable due to the high volume of water.
