Craft traders at the Ocho Rios market in St. Ann are again at odds with the St. Ann Development Corporation (SADCO), a subsidiary of the Urban Development Corporation, over the excavation of the area around the market for drain cleaning.

Mossana Martin, President of the Ocho Rios Craft Market Association, said the vendors returned to their shops on Friday morning to find the market dug up, which is making it difficult to conduct business.

Mrs. Martin said, although the craft vendors had requested that drain cleaning to be done, the excavation has left the market in a state of "disaster" as it is now filled with mud.

She said the vendors will not relent in pressing SADCO to improve their working conditions.

The craft traders held a press conference on Thursday to highlight several issues at the market, including leaking roofs and poor lighting.

Mrs. Martin said over the years, the shops have been deteriorating with only promises to attend to the concerns.
