Opposition Spokesperson on Health & Wellness Dr Alfred Dawes is accusing administrators at health facilities of covering up for policy makers at the Ministry of Health.
Accordingly, he's warning them to desist from this alleged practice.
Dr Dawes, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, also accused policymakers of deflecting on issues affecting Jamaica's healthcare system, while casting blame at the feet of senior managers.
He said when he visits public healthcare facilities, he's "always taken to the newly renovated sections," while "the bypassed areas are the ones that are overcrowded."
According to him, it is only when he speaks to lower level staffers such as groundsmen and "the cleaning ladies," that "the true picture" emerges regarding what is actually happening at these facilities.
"But we have this tendency to put our the potted plants and move the patients out of the corridors when you hear that a spokesperson or a minister is visiting," he charged, adding that this must be discontinued, "because what that is allowing... is to make it seem as if everything is fine and they're doing a great job, while things are falling apart, and then when things are obviously falling apart, they will throw you under the bus!"
He said well thinking Jamaicans who are not blinded by political lenses, are aware that the health sector is falling apart and is getting worse.
