National Security Minister, Robert Montague, is reporting that for all of last year and the first two months of 2017 more than 412 travellers were denied entry into Jamaica.
He told the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) on Thursday that the island is constantly on alert for terrorists at its ports of entry by using a watch list provided by Interpol.
The Minister disclosed that the individuals who were denied entry were on the watch list. It is suspected that some were in transit to other destinations.
Mr. Montague explained that the authorities have the software and backup systems to check passengers before they land.
He spoke to the JIS interview while attending a Choose Life International Conference on Happiness where he also commented on Wednesday's terrorist attack in the UK.
