Pearnel Charles Sr., a longstanding parliamentarian, is set to become the next Speaker of Jamaica's House of Representatives.
RJR News has been informed that Mr. Charles has been approached to take up the post.
It's not yet known when sittings of the House will resume. It's membership on the floor will be split evenly - 30-30, the only difference being the Speaker, who will give the governing Party a one-seat majority, from the chair.

In another significant development in the Charles family, Pearnel Charles Jr., an attorney-at-law, was on Monday appointed a member of the Senate (the Upper House of Parliament) and Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security.
