Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake has commended members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force for their work in reducing serious crime, nationally, for the first quarter of 2025.
In his weekly message to the organization in the Force Orders, Dr Blake said, from January 1 to March 31, the country recorded the lowest number of murders in more than 25 years, alongside the most significant drop in major crimes since 2001.
There was a 35 per cent reduction in murders during the quarter.
The Commissioner described the achievement as a reflection of the sustained efforts being made across every level of the JCF, saying this marks the sixth consecutive quarter in which murders have declined.
Dr Blake noted the continued investment in intelligence-led policing, technological upgrades, and strategic partnerships, which he said are key elements of the Force's national crime reduction strategy.
He reaffirmed the High Command's commitment to building a professional, modern police force that delivers results and earns the trust of the Jamaican people.
