Police High Command probing altercation between cop and soldiers

By Clinton McGregor

The Police High Command says it is investigating an incident captured on video and circulated on social media showing a verbal and physical altercation between members of the Jamaica Defence Force and a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

The incident occurred Sunday in the Zone of Special Operations in the Kingston Western Police Division.

In an statement Monday, the JCF said Assistant Commissioner Danny Graham, head of Area 4 Headquarters, is to meet with his senior JDF counterparts to discuss the incident and bring the matter to a resolution.

The High Command said the incident does not reflect the good working relationship and collaboration that exists between the JDF and the JCF.

In the video, a member of the JDF is seen pushing a JCF member clad in his uniform.

It's reported that the soldiers stopped a private vehicle driven by the police officer following a shooting in the Hannah Town community.

This led to an altercation after the policeman reportedly objected to being stopped.
