Policeman killed at a wake on Ricketts Cresent

Gunmen struck along Ricketts Crescent off Chisholm Avenue last night, leaving a policeman dead and four others nursing gunshot wounds.

A 10 year old child was among the injured.

The police constable has been identified as Dwayne Martin who was attached to the Half Way Tree Police.

Its reported that sometime after eleven o'clock, the Constable and other persons were gathered at a wake in the area known as Frog City, when heavily armed men descended on the function and opened fire.

Constable Martin and four others sustained bullet wounds.

They were rushed to hospital where the Constable was pronounced dead.

More than 60 spent shells were found at the scene.

A senior commander told Radio Jamaica News that Constable Martin who grew up in the area, was not the target of the attack.

He said another patron was the target.
