Residents of Bloxburg in St. Andrew East Rural remain marooned two weeks after heavy rains impacted the community.

The residents are having difficulty accessing basic supplies.

Pastor of Bloxburg United Church, Reverend Carlington Douglas, told Radio Jamaica News that he has sought assistance to get food items for the residents.

However, he says there is a challenge delivering the items.

"I've contacted the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing, who instructed me as to what to do. I did that, I got no response. I got an email address for the Prime Minister, I sent off the letter to him. I got no response as well. And so, we just don't know what to do but the people up there are in need of help," he lamented.

He said a resident, who was a member of his church, died after she was unable to leave the community to get medical attention after suffering a stroke.

A resident of Bloxburg said members of the community desperately need assistance.

"Here in the community of Bloxburg, no transportation, no type of transportation can come (by). We are totally blocked. We are calling on our government to do something. We need assistance immediately. See what here we have to use? Donkey to carry our load to the market to buy little sugar. No help. We don't see the MP, we don't see the councillor...up to this blessed hour, over 14 days," she pleaded.
