The St. Elizabeth police are expressing concern over the number of lives lost in motor vehicle collisions since the start of the year.
Commanding officer, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, says there were only two fewer deaths this year when compared with the similar period last year.
"Since the start of the year there have been 29 fatal crashes which resulted in 31 fatalities; this compared to last year same 29 fatal crashes but 33 fatalities. The figures show a decrease of two fatalities. Again, too many persons are dying on our roads," he lamented.
Superintendent Minto said several roadways are of major concern to the police.
"We will continue the enforcement certainly on our major corridors and some of our off roads. There are some corridors that we pay attention to; we have had more than one fatalities - the Font Hill main road, the Lacovia-Holland Bamboo stretch and even in Santa Cruz we have had fatalities. So we have daily patrols in those areas."
In the meantime, the Island Traffic Authority is reporting 58 fewer road fatalities since the start of the year when compared with the similar period last year.
