St. Lucia: Loss and damage cost from Nov 6 flood expected to increase beyond estimate

The St Lucian government says the estimated damage caused by the November 6 floods is expected to increase beyond the current $6.2 million.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre says teams continue to assess businesses, infrastructure, and affected households.

Pierre, who is also Finance Minister, explained that with a complete assessment, the government would determine the next phase of assistance to the affected sectors.

He added that Saint Lucia will have to move quickly to institute measures to mitigate the effects of flooding, adverse weather, and other natural hazards.
