Taxi operators who ply the Guy's Hill to Highgate route in St. Mary blocked sections of the thoroughfare on Monday morning leaving students, teachers and other commuters stranded.
The operators protested against the deplorable condition of the road.
A taxi operator, Noel Smith, said the road has been in that state for some time.
"We have sick people a transport, we have pregnant people a transport, we have children a take to school... You haffi care about who a use the road a transport public," he lamented, noting that the road's state of disrepair is causing high motor vehicle repair bills for transport operators.
"[M]any a time we heard that so much money has been grant[ed] to fix Guy's Hill to Highgate and we have never seen a complete patch work...done. And if the main road is like this, the turn off roads worse, and a di turn off road carry di most people," he explained.
The operators want the authorities to fix the road urgently.
