The three firefighters who were seriously injured from an electric shock while on the job on Tuesday, remain in hospital under observation.

Deputy Commissioner Sean Martin, Chief Fire Prevention Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, says following an evaluation on Wednesday, doctors advised the firefighters that they cannot yet be discharged.

Speaking on TVJ's Smile Jamaica on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Martin provided an update on his colleagues' condition, noting that they were "a little bit unstable" which meant there was still some cause for concern.

"Based on some test results that came back, [the hospital] decided to keep them for further observation, monitoring. They'll be doing some more tests today," he disclosed.

Three other firefighters who were hurt in the electric shock had already been treated and released.

The six firefighters were shocked while responding to a call that multiple buildings were on fire at Seventh Street in Greenwich Town, St. Andrew.

The electrical shock was believed to be due to contact with illegal connections.
