Operations will resume Wednesday at the Trench Town Fire Station, nearly nine months after a major health concern resulted in its closure.
Colin Fagan, Minister of State in the Local Government ministry, will oversee the reopening of the building which was closed in April after it was discovered that the roof was made of material containing asbestos.
Fire fighters were relocated after TVJ News highlighted the dangers of the deteriorating asbestos roofing.
The asbestos material was removed and the roof replaced. However, in October the Jamaica Fire Brigade said the station would have to be painted before it could be re-occupied.
