A high-level probe is underway following Monday night's billion-dollar cocaine seizure on a boat off the coast of Black River in St. Elizabeth.
Three men were arrested.
The vessel, destined for Jamaica, was intercepted by the Jamaica Defence Force's new naval unit, known as the Second District JDF Coast Guard.
The JDF reported that the cocaine seized weighed 2,000 pounds.
The detainees and contraband - that had been concealed in bags and drums - were handed over to the Narcotics Division.
Last week, Brigadier Roderick Williams, Commander of the Maritime, Air and Cyber Command, said the unit was established to increase security presence in the maritime space and counter drug and weapon trafficking, illicit fishing and other illegal activities.
