Police in Ohio have arrested an elderly man who is accused of fatally shooting an Uber driver he mistakenly believed was part of a scam.
Officials say a scammer had contacted 81-year-old William Brock and told him he needed to pay $12,000 to get his nephew out of jail.
The caller also threatened to kill his nephew if the ransom was not paid.
The 61-year-old driver, Loletha Hall, was also sent to Mr. Brock's house by a scammer and instructed to pick up a package.
But officials say she was unaware of the threats Mr. Brock had received.
