Campbell eligible to return to cricket after suspension

Former West Indies opening batter John Campbell is in line to make an immediate return to the Jamaica Scorpions set-up as Radio Jamaica Sports has been reliably informed that the left-hander will be one of the 15 contracted players for the upcoming regional year.

In April this year, Campbell received a reduction of two years and two months from his four-year ban, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in his favour.

The 30-year-old was originally banned for four years by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) after failing to provide a sample to doping control officers in April 2022.

Campbell appealed the decision in December 2022, before the matter was heard before CAS in April 2023.

Based on the ruling handed down by CAS, Campbell's suspension would expire between August 15 and 22 which means he is now eligible to resume his cricketing career.

Before his suspension, Campbell played 20 tests, six One Day Internationals, and two Twenty20 Internationals for West Indies between 2019 and 2022.
