Report by RJRGLEANER Group Sports Reporter Denise Walters

With uncertainty still clouding Caymanas Park as it relates to the amendment to Rule 44 and the abandonment of races, the government has called stakeholders to a meeting for this Thursday to discuss the recent developments.

On Tuesday, Dr Nigel Clarke, the Minister of Finance in a press release, said stakeholders of the horse racing industry are being invited for a face to face meeting with a view to maintaining an environment that is conducive to the stability and growth of the horse racing industry, on Thursday, May 2 at the ministry's Heroes’ Circle offices.

Two of the 10 races on Saturday’s programme were abandoned by the stewards, with the expected start having gone past the allowable 5 minutes as stipulated in Rule 44 of the Jamaica Racing Commission’s racing rules.
