Despite returning to the saddle on Sunday, jockey Samantha Fletcher still has a day's suspension remaining to complete her 20 day suspension by the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC).

Radio Jamaica Sports understands that Fletcher was granted permission by the JRC to ride on Sunday which featured the 2000 Guineas and was designated as a special race day.

A reliable source said Fletcher only learnt of this development from her connections in Canada, who received a written response from the JRC, having followed up on their efforts to have her ride in that jurisdiction.

A document seen by Radio Jamaica Sports only indicated to Fletcher that her suspension would have started on March 18.

However, JRC chairman Clovis Metcalfe is insisting that Fletcher was advised of the special days on which she would have been allowed to ride while the suspension was still in effect.

She will therefore sit out the race day of June 10 and fully return to race riding on June 17.

And on an editorial correction, Radio Jamaica Sports can report that Fletcher and her legal team will find out on June 22 whether she will be granted leave to apply for judicial review in the Supreme Court regarding the JRC's decision to suspend her for 20 race days.

The matter is being handled by Justice Simone Wolfe-Reece, who had instructed last month that both Fletcher's attorney and the JRC’'s legal team appear in person to present their case which they did on Tuesday.

Fletcher was suspended for breaching Rule 200 of the racing rules by not riding the horse Gone A Negril on its merit on February 4.
