West Indies teammates Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin led a historic performance by the Melbourne Renegades in their 9 wicket demolition of Adelaide Strikers as play in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) continued on Monday in Australia.
Matthews who was named Player of the Match, cracked an unbeaten 85 from 54 deliveries with 12 fours and two sixes, while Dottin blazed a boundary-studded 46 from just 18 balls that contained seven fours and a six, as the Renegades recorded the highest successful chase in WBBL history. They finished on 186-1 in 17.1 overs in reply to the Strikers' 185-8 from their 20 overs.
Matthews and Dottin shared an unbroken 85-run partnership in under six overs to propel the Renegades to victory with 17 balls remaining.
Matthews also took 2-28 from her four overs when the Strikers batted. Matthews and Dottin will next be in action for the Melbourne Renegades against the Melbourne Stars on Friday.
