Following other successful models, The Mico University College and the Cameron Blazers Track Club have formed a partnership to try and build more athletics talent locally.

The two bodies signed off on the agreement today.

Cameron Blazers, led by Jamaica's first world champion Bert Cameron will work at and with Mico athletes in a bid to achieve success at the intercollegiate and professional levels.

Head of Sports at Mico Raymond "KC" Graham says the move is a master stroke for his institution: “When I go to track meet and see people running away from Mico students, I said I had to do something different. Bert Cameron coming to Mico will help to make that change as he can get people to come here,” Graham reasoned.

Top high school girls quarter-milers Tiffany James, formerly of Papine High and former Balaclava and Camperdown Highstar Dawnalee Loney will attend Mico.

Javere Bell who has been with Cameron since his split from the Racers Track Club in 2011, is also attending classes at the college.

Cameron says the move will greatly benefit his club as “this will help a lot because now I can go out and recruit juniors because we have a university that they can attend,”.
