National goalkeeper's house destroyed by fire

Voices of Akeem Chambers and Marcel Gayle

Reggae Boyz and Waterhouse goalkeeper Akeem Chambers suffered a huge setback on Saturday morning when his home off Olympic Way was completely destroyed by fire. It's understood that neighbours saw fire coming from the house around 2:00 am and raised an alarm.

The 21 year old Chambers and his younger brother Tafari Chambers who is also a goalkeeper and who represents Harbour View, managed to escape the blaze along with their mother. Chambers said he lost everything including appliances, furniture and important documents including his passport.

The incident is being investigated by the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the police. Chambers made his national senior team debut in November of last year when the Reggae Boyz played Guyana at the Montego Bay Sports Complex. His club coach Marcel Gayle described the incident as a bitter pill to swallow.
