National Stadium swimming pool to remain closed - Health Ministry

Months after spending J$6 million to refurbish the Olympic size 50 metre swimming pool at the National Stadium, the Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica may have to source a further J$11 million to fix the 25 metre diving pool.

This comes as officials from the Ministry of Health, who again toured the facility on Tuesday indicated that the diving facility should remain closed.

Both pools were closed last week Wednesday, six days after the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) cut the power to the Independence Park complex for outstanding bills.

Facilities manager with the ASAJ, Raymond Hall says the decision of the Health Ministry is very harsh and  will cost the association millions of dollars to rectify.
