National U17 player invited to elite basketball training camp

In a major boost for Jamaican basketball, national Under-17 player Marcus McDonald has been selected to participate in the 13th Basketball Without Borders Americas Camp, set for May 17-20 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The camp is being hosted by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

Basketball Without Borders Americas is an elite skills camp for young players from South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico and Canada.

McDonald who has been representing Jamaica at the youth level for the past three years, was individually selected by the NBA and FIBA, based on his outstanding basketball skills and leadership abilities. McDonald is based in Phoenix, Arizona.

A second Jamaican player, Antione Daye of Calabar High, was also selected for the upcoming camp in Brazil but had to decline the invitation due to a clash with his CSEC Examinations.

Participants at the 4-day camp will be coached by NBA players and FIBA coaches.
