One runner-up position for Jamaica at International Badminton Champs

The Jamaican pair of Gareth Henry and Samuel Ricketts lost in the men’s doubles final 21-17, 21-17 to the Indian duo of Kona Turan and Saurabh Sharma at the Jamaica International Badminton Tournament at the National Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday.

This was the only Jamaican team in the final as the mixed doubles team of Christine Leyow and Garron Palmer fell to the Cuban top seed of Mari Rodriguez and Osleni guerrero 21-14 and 21-12 in the semi-finals. Up next for the Jamaicans will be an appearance at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia next month.

Katherine Wynter and Alana Bailey will represent Jamaica in the women's section while Sam Ricketts, Dennis Coke and Anthony McNee will be the countrys male representatives.
